Joining MagnetHead really happened
by accident. I had answered an ad that the bassist and drummer had placed
searching for a guitar player in June of 2003. After a couple of auditions,
they asked me to join their project. Since they already had a singer,
it seemed to be a complete band.
However, before things started to get things rolling with writing new
material, another guitarist came into the fold. Instead of becomeing a
brand new band that would write new material, it evolved into an entity
that already existed; MagnetHead. I went from a guitarist eager to write
new material for a new project to becoming a guitarist that was supporting
someone else's dream.
While I wasn't too keen on the idea, I weighed the options; keep on looking
for a band or play in this band. Since I hadn't been in a band in over
10 years that played out, I decided to stick it out and hope for the best.
While MagnetHead was a cool band to be in, I knew it wouldn't last too
long. The breaking point came while writing new material. Those usually
ended up being a 'you play this' session and any input didn't go over
very well. This led to my exit from the band.
MagnetHead is still going strong. Visit their website at www.magnetheadband.com.
