- It's been about 3 weeks since I have
been kicked out of HeadBelt and I am actually pretty happy
about it. Even though they were excellent musicians, it just
wasn't
my thing and, as time went on, I could tell there wasn't going
to much in the way of musical contribution from my end. So
now its time to get into something that will tap the talent
I have.
I have been working with ex-Tribe bassist Randall since he
has left Averis. He also plays keyboard and sings (he was the
lead singer of Averis), so we should be able to come up with
some good music.
I have also been talking to a drummer that just moved back
to Raleigh. Besides drumming, he is really into the programming
and sequencing world. Haven't had a chance to get together
yet, but we have talked alot. He is still getting settled since
he just moved back to the area and the holiday season makes
things hard as well.
Posted some new live pics from 2005 with Headbelt, which you
can see here.
I'll be getting up some live Headbelt
clips in the near future and I'm still hopeful I'll be getting
the Tribe footage from Aug 04 sometime soon.

- Boy, was I blind-sided this week. I was told my services were no
longer needed in Headbelt. It was a shock to me because there wasn't
any warning; I thought things were going pretty well. I was told,
that after 8 months, I wasn't coming up with enough creative guitar
parts. I was either following Todd's (bass) or Sean's (guitar) parts
too closely and not expanding the songs. I thought I was playing
what the song needed from a rhythm guitar player. You think it would
come up sooner and have discussions about what might happen if something
doesn't change, but that never happened. Apparently, I'm not being
replaced either; they are just going on as a 4 piece. Not sure who
they'll pull off some of the Headbelt stuff with one guitar, but
I suspect they'll start playing more Down Cycle material.
In retrospect, it's probably for the best. I was more or less the
'stepchild' of the band. Never really in the core of the band or
really accepted, IMO.
Right now I am talking to some people about projects. I'll update
more as something concrete develops.

- Headbelt is still moving along. We are playing
some shows and still getting things worked out; new songs, lights,
etc. We are also recording the songs when time permits. I'll
probably lay some
parts down in the next few weeks.
Working alot with Marc on his project which he now calls the 'Marc
Anthony Project'. We are slowly getting 7 songs done. You can check
out more about
M.A.P. at www.myspace.com/marcanthonyproject.
More Tribe video from last summer is on the way. Glad I didn't pay
for it because I would be pissed at how late it is. I was suppose to
have it
months ago, but here I sit waiting.
12Jun05 - Things
have been busy with Headbelt. We have a 3 song demo up on the myspace
siteb and we have played a couple of shows. Shows went
really well; just need to work on a few things. The website is still
in progress and should be ready very soon.
I have also been working with Marc demoing some of the songs he has
written. His writing style is a little more commercial melodic metal,
so its a
new experience for me. Maybe we'll play them out sometime in a side
project.
24Apr05 - Headbelt has finally found a lead singer. So right now we
are in the process of gearing up to start playing out. We actually already
have a gig lined up for June. We are also starting to record some songs
for promotional use. We still don't have an official website (still in
the works), but we are still using a myspace.com page temporarily.
13Mar05 - Headbelt is still looking for singer. We are currently stil
auditioning and hopefully we'll have someone soon. Then we can concentrate
on gearing up to play out get other things in order like the website
and merch.
More Tribe video coming soon. I have word I should be getting ahold of
the Tribe video footage (that was suppose to be our DVD) by the end of
March. I will be sure to get plenty of good clips up for your viewing
pleasure.
12Feb05 - I am now a member of Headbelt. I pretty psyched to be playing
with another
7-stringer. Should create so cool new music. We're still looking for
a singer, but things will fall into place. As soon as we have a website,
I'll be sure to get a link on the main page.
As soon as I get situated with Headbelt, I'll start working with Marc
(ex-Tribe drummer) on a recording project as well.
Lots of new video clips added. I just finished adding all the Aittala
clips from 1993 and I have added some clips from me playing in a high
school band called Malachi. It's some pretty funny stuff, so enjoy it.
Ironically, the drummer that is in the Malachi clips is going to be moving
pretty close by. Can a Malachi reunion and world tour be far behind?
Stay tuned...
24Jan05 - I have a jammed with a band called Averis a couple of times.
Their style is sort of Dream Theater-ish. I also have another band to
jam with called Headbelt. Their style is more like Meshuggah. Both bands
are real good, so it will be a tough decision if things go well when
I jam with Headbelt on Thursday.
I have been working with the video clips from Aittala in 93 and me in
a high school band. I should have those up in the next week or so for
your viewing enjoyment.
11Jan05 - Wish I had some good news for the first entry of 2005, but
sadly, I don't. Tribe has decided to split so I am off in search of something
new.
I had alot of fun with Tribe, but there was also alot headaches at times.
Mostly from manufactured drama. When it quits being more fun that hassle,
it isn't worth doing anymore. But I learned alot and will be moving
on.
On the upside, I already have a few things to check out. There is a newer
band that would like me to check them out playing keys and guitar again.
Ironically, there is a Tribe connection. The bass player that played
with them from 2001-03 is the singer. I met him when he filled in on
bass for a show last September. He must have thought highly of me because
when he found out Tribe was no longer, he wanted me to come check them
out. I heard a couple rough demos and like what I hear so far.
Marc, the Tribe drummer, and I are going to continue to work together
on some music while he concentrates on Widow. He really likes what I
do as far as writing and wants to keep playing music with me in some
form. Not sure what the project name will be, but, you can be sure I'll
get a website up for it. Hopefully, we will play together in another
band in the future.
