I think I have
'Myself Deceived' ready to final mix. I spent time going over the song
with a fine-toothed comb fixing and tweaking it. The great thing a about
digital recording is that you can cut out a thousandth of a second
on a part and save it. I had to do that with one of the guitar
solos. As I was listening to the song closely, I realized there was a noticeable
mistake in the solo that really stood out. I identified the minute section
that was wrecking to solo and just cut it out. Solo saved. I am
going to try and have the song completed by Feb 1rst, but that is just a loose
deadline, nothing in stone.
No change for 'Fairy Tales'. I think I am going
to concentrate on getting 'Myself Deceived' finished and then I'll turn my
attentions to 'Fairy Tales'.
Hooked up with Monika this week. She wants me to
help here on a few songs. On 2 songs, she wants me to lay down the guitar
solo. They are essentially finished except for the drums, which the
drummer is doing the drum parts last (I know that is a little backward, but she
said the drummer is that good). After the drums are down, I will lay down
the solo. She actually wanted me to put down the solo before the drums,
but I told her the drums gave me the feel on how the solo should be
played.
Monika also has another song that she did along time
ago that she wants to redo. She wants to change the feel of the song and
asked me to work out a finger-style part (the original is a strummed guitar
part). I have figured something out and need to run it by her to see what
see thinks.
This week I also might have found some dudes to
jam with. They are currently a 3-piece and the guitar player plays a
7-string. They are currently called Outliar and really are just kind of
jamming right now due to their schedules. They don't have a singer and are
interested in me trying to sing the originals they have recorded. I am
going to get together with the guitar player and see if things click. He
really feels my style is similar to what they are doing now. I'm crossing
my fingers. It would be nice to play out once in a while.
