I received my Dean
7-string acoustic that I ordered. For the price I paid, it is an excellent
sounding guitar and plays well too. I had to take it to the local music
shop for a little adjustment , but other than that, I am happy with it.
'Myself Deceived' is coming along well. I laid
quite a few takes of both guitar solos for the song. I'll have to go
through them to ensure I have a good take of each or at least be able to piece
together one digitally. Besides the solos, I am pretty much done with
recording the song. I may just start the final mix of this one sooner than
later.
I did try to get some recording done on 'Fairy Tales',
but I didn't have anything worth saving when all was said and done. First,
I tried recording some of the acoustic tracks. It has been along
time since I recorded any finger-style playing and it is tough to do a longer
passage without any mistakes. I did a shit load of takes, but never made
it far enough through the song where there was a break. You really have to
do the parts all the way through because punching in, even digitally, is just
too noticeable (for me anyway). I then just laid an acoustic guide
track to try to record some vocals. Well, I just didn't lay anything down
I was happy with, so I just erased all that I had done and just decided to start
fresh next time.
Finally caught up with Monika (see Nov
18th entry) this week. She has been busy trying to finish a cd with
her band, but we are going to get together this week to try and do some work
together.
